Black Creek Academy Enhances Academic Opportunity with NetBooks and Credit Repair
The Bridge recently received 50 Dell Netbook computers for use in classrooms at Black Creek Academy, the Gadsden campus school.

The computers will be available for math and language course work, initially, and will be useful in helping each student study course work relevant to their own grade level.

“This is more than an opportunity to stay caught up with class work, this is an opportunity to get ahead”, said Arthur Crumpler, coordinator of Black Creek Academy at The Bridge.

In addition to the regular classroom use, The Bridge is preparing to offer an exciting new opportunity for clients at Black Creek Academy. Students will have the opportunity to focus on recovering credits from prior academic work that might have been lost. This can help them regain academic credit by targeting specific areas of learning where they have previously had difficulty without having to retake entire course or semester of work once they return to other schools.

“As a result of alcohol and drug related problems over 90% of our students are at a minimum one year behind academically. I am very excited about the credit recovery program. The program will give our students an opportunity to turn “F’s” into “A’s” and get back on track. With the 50 plus netbooks each student will have ample time and the technology to make accelerated progress during their stay.” — Mark Spurlock
