16. What are the qualifications and backgrounds of The Bridge's treatment counselors?

The principle skill, quality or attribute for the position of counselor with The Bridge is the ability to demonstrate a genuine respect and compassion for each client and his or her family.  The educational backgrounds of our counselors include those which have completed a Master’s degree in the behavioral sciences such as counseling or social work, and are in the process of obtaining licensure (LPC, LMFT, LCSW) by the state of Alabama. Some counselors have Bachelor’s degrees and have earned or are working on becoming a state certified addictions counselor. Any staff person who provides direct services to the clients must be certified or licensed by the state within two years of their date of hire. Some staff members are also in long-term recovery.

All Bridge staff participate in regular continuing education and training.
