Pickens County REACH Transitions
135 Commerce Avenue
Carrollton, AL  35447

The REACH Program in Carrollton, Alabama provides a variety of alternative educational and therapeutic opportunities for youth referred by the Pickens County Juvenile Court. REACH (Redirection, Education, Accountability, Collaboration and Home Stability) encourages building core values by addressing responsibility, self-control, respect for others, improved socialization skills, and increased academic achievement. The program was established in 2011 to provide intensive, structured programming for adjudicated youth to reduce the number of commitments to the Alabama Department of Youth Services. The Bridge contracted with Pickens County through Judge Lance Bailey and Chief Probation Officer James Fields in 2013 to operate the program.
The REACH Program serves males and females, ages 13 to 18. Most program participants are enrolled in school, although some may be at risk of expulsion. The length of the program is approximately six to eight weeks, however each participant remains involved with the program as an alumnus and mentor for an additional six weeks.
The program has an intensive academic component and a strong focus on family restoration. In addition, each program participant works to develop effective life skills, deal with adversity, and achieve personal goals.
